About this event

We are stoked to partner with Yap Out Yonder for another slow Sunday morning stroll. Yap Out Yonder meets bi-weekly on Sunday mornings. They are passionate about slow Sundays and active leisure. Bring your water, maybe even your iced coffee, and walk and talk in community before going about your day.

LOCATION :

Brandywine Falls Trailhead 8176 Brandywine Rd, Peninsula, OH 44264, USA

PARKING INSTRUCTIONS:

There is a paved parking lot.

DESCRIPTION OF THE ADVENTURE

We will follow the path toward the falls, then take a left onto the trail just before the boardwalk. The clockwise loop takes you down into the gorge, over a footbridge above the creek, and back up the other side. Keep bearing right at all trail intersections. After you pass the Inn at Brandywine Falls and cross back over the creek – and over the falls – take a right at the small bulletin board. The path leads to the falls viewing boardwalk and back to the parking lot. For a closer look at the falls, follow the signs and walk down approximately 80 steps to a lower viewing deck.

• Distance: 1.4 to 1.5 miles round trip

• Elevation Gain/Change: 160 – 200 feet

• Difficulty: Moderate

• Duration: About 45 minutes to 1 hour

• Terrain: Unpaved, wooded ravine with roots, rocks, and a climb back up from Brandywine Creek.

TIPS FOR DRESSING IN COLD, COOL, OR WET WEATHER:

Your cold-weather layering system should include a base-layer (moisture wicking and on the skin), a mid-layer (warm and fluffy) and an outer-layer (a wind/weather proof shell. The base-layer wicks sweat away from your body to keep you comfortable (wool, silk, nylon, fleece, polyester, bamboo). The mid-layer traps heat to keep you warm (neoprene, fleece, or wool). And the outer-layer/shell protects you from the elements (rain coat or winter coat). Combined, these three layers help you stay warm, dry and comfortable. It is best to avoid cotton clothing and cotton socks. Make sure you are also considering warm hats, gloves, scarf/buff, socks, and boots!

RESTROOMS

There are restrooms on site.
