If Watson can't clear the protocol, Shedeur Sanders is next in line. Sanders believes he's a far different player than a year ago, and said Wednesday, “Overall I'm just excited for the opportunity.” He took all of the No. 1 reps in practice that day.
Last season he started the final seven games, going 3-4 with seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions. This year he has appeared in two games. Against the Steelers, he was in for four plays and completed both of his passes for 2 yards.
